Perfect Lightweight Vacuum

Hoover Windtunnel Bagless Upright UH70400

Hoover Windtunnel Bagless Upright UH70400

had to replace my 5yr old Dyson that i virtually kept running by taping it in places where the plastic had snapped off (usually when using the hose features for stairs, etc)... liked my Dyson but not the price so tried to find something comparable. This was about $300 cheaper and i am really pleased with its capability... great suction, easy to empty (i love looking at all that dirt!), long cord, light and smaller to handle up and down stairs and easier to store in front closet. i do not LOVE the hose set up to use the attachments nor do i like the clip that suppose to hold the attachments (the dyson was very easy to switch over to attachments). So i may look for an accessory vacuum to handle the weird spots (stairs, small nooks, furniture, lampshades, etc ) but i do plan for sure to order at least one more of the Hover Windtunnel Air to keep on another floor (i have a five level split with 4000+ sq ft to vacuum so i think 2 vacuums will make it easier just to pull out and do quick jobs here and there). thanks hoover!

  1. My elderly mother has a hard time pushing and maneuvering most of the standard vacuums on the market today, so when her old vacuum finally broke, I went searching for a replacement. This vacuum does the job. She loves it so much she keeps hinting to me that she wants to purchase a second one just in case they stop making it.

The extended handle makes it extremely easy for her to clean the ceiling, fans, and even the baseboards without having to strain. It is so light she is able to pick it up and carry it around instead of just wheeling it to where she wants it. As for cleaning power, it does a great job. She has a Maine Coon cat that produces a lot of shedded fur and this vacuum has no problems sucking it all up out of the carpet.

She was going to wait for me to come over after work and put it together for her, but when she got the package she couldn't wait. I was worried that she would have issues putting it together or even moving the box inside. Apparently, she just picked it up and carried it in, which surprised me. She had no problems putting it together on her own, either.

I would definitely recommend this product to someone who needs a powerful vacuum in a lightweight format. I know my mother couldn't be happier.

  2. i love this Hoover machine, it looks so small, and is so light that I did not expect it to clean like a powerhouse, but it does. I find it so easy to lift and it pushes easily. I find the smaller base much easier to maneuver that my older bulky vacuum. It has an excellent HEPA filter that can be cleaned, saving money on frequent replacements. I like that the suction turns off the base when using the hose. Cleaning the bin is easy, but hooking up the hose is an extra step that most vacuums don't require, although it is simple to do. it has a 30 ft extension cord, a convenience, and it lays low and flat to clean under furniture. Like I said, I love it!

  3. I like it! I have carpet throughout the house and did not test it on the hard kitchen floor, but I was impressed with how this vacuum performed on carpet. I've used it daily for a week now, carrying it up and down stairs and even vacuuming the stairs.

I looked for 4 things when reviewing this vacuum: suction, portability, versatility, and construction.

Suction: Impressive! I vacuumed quite a bit of the carpet and was impressed with what was coming up. Then I realized that I didn't even have the beater bar turned on! I pushed the button to turn on the beater bar and the cup filled even quicker. I checked the suction through the open hose end and it seemed to be just as powerful as any other full size vacuum.

Portability: This model of Hoover vacuum weighs just 12 pounds so it's easy to carry around, especially up and down stairs. It feels heavier than 12 pounds, but I'll take their word for it. It's not a bulky vac either, which helps in carrying it as well as maneuvering it around the room.

Versatility: The tools are standard, but the addition of the extra hose piece is unique and quite helpful. It's also extremely flexible! The hose on my Dyson is rather stiff awkward to pull out for using the wand attachment. The hose on the Hoover is very soft and stretches easily without tipping the vacuum over. I really was able to vacuum a flight of stairs with it! Cobwebs in a high ceiling wouldn't stand a chance with this.

Construction: It feels well built to me. The materials used are a bit thinner and lighter than other vacs to obtain the 12lb lightweight claim. But everything seems sturdy enough that I don't fear it will break anytime soon. I was a little worried after reading the other reviews from those who had problems with breakage soon after it was out of the box, but mine seems fine so far. The only issue I had with it was that the tools did not fit into the storage slot well enough and were easy to knock loose. The tools ended up on a shelf in the broom closet.

I think this is a great vacuum, especially at this price. I'm happy with it and would recommend it to my own mother.

  4. My wife and I read tons of reviews for this and other brand vacuum cleaners. We finally chose this one for it's features and overall positive reviews. It seems all these vacuums, no matter the price range, get the similar reviews ranging from 1 star to 5. So we decided to go with a low-mid priced machine at $159.00 figuring that if it lasted two years, we would get our money out of it. I have only used the vacuum once, but all I have to say is.. WOW! This thing is the strongest and lightest weight vacuum I have ever used! After vacuuming one 4 foot long floor runner/rug, the canister was filled with filth! There was also absolutely no dust/filth smell you get from other machines. It was also quite quite (for a vacuum). Our rugs looked brand new, almost as if they were steam cleaned. We hesitated buying a Hoover, since the machine we replaced was the old Hoover Duros Canister style machine, which literally could not vacuum up a feather. What is nice about the AIR Hoover is that the unit is easily carried around when you use the wand attachment, even easier than a canister model. So if you're a canister fan, you should enjoy this upright. The only downside is that you cannot vacuum all the way under a couch, like you can with a canister type, but the high performance and low price of this model outweighs that inconvenience. We are very happy with our purchase and would highly recommend this vacuum.

  5. This vacuum is awesome - light, super-powerful, EASY to empty, has a washable, REUSABLE filter (!), and works like a dream. Very long cord. Very versatile when you use the accessories that come with it. Does not lose suction. Really fantastic buy for the price! I only wish it had a retractable cord, that's the only drawback.

  6. Well I went out and purchased the Hoover Wind tunnel AIR Upright Vacuum Cleaner. I did a lot of research on that vacuum and I thought it would be the vacuum for me. So when it went on sale at Sears I decided to order it. When it came in and I unpacked it I was quite suppressed at how it looked and how small it is. At first I was not impressed and was going to return it for something more traditional looking, but the more I looked at it and all the features it has I decided to give it a try and boy am I glad I did. I hooked everything up as it said in the manual and plugged it in and turned it on and I just could not believe the suction power it has, so I vacuumed the carpet and I also could not believe how much dirt it was picking up and how fast the dirt cup was getting full of dirt. I was quite happy at that point. For such a small and compact vacuum it sure is powerful. Then I decided to vacuum the hard wood floors. The one thing I like very much about this vacuum is that is has a on and off switch for the brush roll. That was very important for me because I have mixed flooring, carpet and hardwood and another thing I also like about this vacuum is the power and on-off floor switch is located near the handle so no need to bend down to turn on and off the vacuum or the vacuum brush roll, anyways I started to vacuum the floors and it picked up all the dust and sand and dirt I vacuumed over and no splatter. That was also a big plus for me. So I am going to keep it. This is my first bagels vacuum and it sure has a lot of suction and power to pick up everything on the carpet and floors. I also like the low profile of the power head part of the upright; I can go under furniture and beds quite well. This Hoover Wind Tunnel Air Upright Vacuum Cleaner has lots of features. It has a light that is green to let you know everything is running normally and if it turns red that means something is blocking the air flow or something got caught up in the brush roll. Like I mentioned before it has a on and off switch for the carpet and bare floors and it is located near the handle so it is easy to get at. It comes with an extra hose to vacuum the stairs. It also has two filters to help clean the air while vacuuming a HEPA filter and a washable filter and that is a good feature to have in a vacuum. This vacuum is also not too noisy and that was also a big plus for me. There are two things I wish it had though. 1. A head light and 2. Better furniture tools, the tools it comes with are quite cheep looking. Hoover could improve on that area of their vacuums they could make better furniture tools. But all in all I am quite impressed with the vacuum.

  7. Length:: 3:43 Mins

We've just had this vac for a day or two, but so far, so good - we like it. It has good suction, and it's extremely lightweight and easy to handle. I didn't notice many other video reviews for this product, so I decided to create this short video unboxing/review.
A couple things to note: The vacuum sounds extremely loud on the video, but it didn't strike me as being unusually loud when we were using it.
The vacuum handle bends down to a very low angle, allowing you to easily get under beds, furniture, etc.
There is no height adjustment for carpet, bare floor, etc. This unit uses an automatic height adjustment mechanism.
It has nice accessory tools which easily attach , including a long wand which can reach the ceiling, as you'll see in the video.
    Thanks, enjoy!
