PetFusion Scratcher Lounge Walnut Brown

PetFusion Scratcher Lounge Walnut Brown

We purchased the PetFusion Cat Scratcher Lounge about two weeks ago in anticipation of bringing home two newly adopted cats from a local animal shelter. The cats are females about four and six year old, had been found outside together, and were living in a cage at the shelter for several months. Our living room has sliding doors that overlook a forested area, and we put the scratcher lounge right there next to the window so that the cats will be able to lay in the light, see birds and insects, and so on. Immediately both cats took to it, each laying on it for long hours, scratching it, and stretching on it. One cat, in particular, tends to stay on it a lot, and we think she has claimed it as her own. Because they both love it, though, we will be ordering a second one soon.

The design is very long and low to the ground, and with the dark edges and the curvy shape, it has an artful look that is pretty nice in our living room even when it's not in use by a cat. Of course, it still does look like a functional piece of pet furniture, as it is getting good use by the cats' claws, and is starting to show a little bit of shredding, especially near the top of each curve. That are is where the cat's tend to scratch the most. We anticipate that it will last at least several months and then need to be flipped, when it will last even a few more months. Since this is our first one, we can't say for sure, though, how long it will last.

So the cats definitely lay on it a lot, and they scratch it a lot. They also poke their heads through the holes sometimes, but at 11 and 13 pounds they don't fully crawl through the holes--although I did see the younger, smaller cat do so once. We've even seen both cats laying on it together, end-to-end, and grooming each other.

Finally, I'd like to mention the size that has been discussed by several other reviewers. I would like to comment about some reviews that say that the item is not wide enough. I agree that the item is not extremely wide, and when in use, the cat's legs or tail tend to dangle off the lounge. But I do not think this is a problem for the cats, and that they seem to even prefer this. We've also noticed our cats hanging over a ledge by our stairway in this way, and I think many cats in the wild would lay this way over a tree branch, for example. Our cats have multiple other options of where to lay including on a round plush cat bed, a covered bed, a coffee table, chair cushions, the couch, and the carpet; but they seem to prefer this thing over the rest. The only time it does seem a little narrow is when we pet a cat while it is on the lounge; if the cat gets excited and starts to squirm around too quickly, it has to grab the side to brace itself so as not to slip off. But this is rare, and not a problem since our cats have claws--it might be a problem, though, if a cat had no claws.

The item arrived in a timely manner, was packaged well, the cats absolutely love it, and it looks nice in our living room. So it's definitely a five star for us!

Large Regular Cat Scratcher Style

Large Regular Cat Scratcher Style

We have three cats, which to me is 2.5 too many. Anyway, we have a flea problem this year. It's happened before but never anything like this. We've tried several products this summer, advantage, frontline etc and nothing has worked very well. We used capstar once on the dog years ago. I remember mostly what it cost.

This stuff had many good reviews and at a fraction of the price of capstar I had to try it. I am 100 percent impressed. Within 30 minutes you could tell the poor cats were feeling the effects of fleas in their death throes. They suffered like that for a little while but they are good now.

It is what is advertised as, instant flea death serum. It's not advertised or meant as a preventative or long term product. It works far better than I remember capstar working for the dog. I only wish this was available back then, it would have saved us some money. Vet wanted 25 per dose.

The capsule comes apart very easily to mix the contents into wet food. It's not one of those that you have to hack away at just to have it explode in a cloud of dust. Wet food has worked best for us. For those of you who have never tried getting a cat to swallow a pill, it's no a walk in the park. They grow an extra set of legs and their claws are magically tipped with carbide as soon as you think about trying it. just break open the capsule.

As much as the cats annoy me I still don't want to see them uncomfortable or unhealthy. This has helped very much and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any battling pet pests. Man, how I miss the dog after she went to the big dog park in the sky.

Perfect Lightweight Vacuum

Hoover Windtunnel Bagless Upright UH70400

Hoover Windtunnel Bagless Upright UH70400

had to replace my 5yr old Dyson that i virtually kept running by taping it in places where the plastic had snapped off (usually when using the hose features for stairs, etc)... liked my Dyson but not the price so tried to find something comparable. This was about $300 cheaper and i am really pleased with its capability... great suction, easy to empty (i love looking at all that dirt!), long cord, light and smaller to handle up and down stairs and easier to store in front closet. i do not LOVE the hose set up to use the attachments nor do i like the clip that suppose to hold the attachments (the dyson was very easy to switch over to attachments). So i may look for an accessory vacuum to handle the weird spots (stairs, small nooks, furniture, lampshades, etc ) but i do plan for sure to order at least one more of the Hover Windtunnel Air to keep on another floor (i have a five level split with 4000+ sq ft to vacuum so i think 2 vacuums will make it easier just to pull out and do quick jobs here and there). thanks hoover!

Daddy Vans Natural Beeswax Furniture

Daddy Vans Natural Beeswax Furniture

Got a new solid wood desk from Crate and Barrel. Wanted protection from accidental water.

Applied wax with part of clean cloth. Waited a few minutes, the wiped/buffed it dry with unused part of cloth. It gave the maple wood a nice deep even color. Not shiny, but a nice gentle sheen. Smelled very good for about a day. 3 days later still looks great. Not sure how often I'll have to do this, but I would definitely use this on new wood furniture for initial protection. OMG, I think I just recommended buffing my wood with this wax for protection!

Also, I was a little nervous due to the review describing darkening the wood due to oil. Although I cannot comment on his situation, when I applied the wax, the color became more uniform. I would not describe the effect as oily or shiny at all but rather a very subtle sheen. I can barely notice it is there. Also, I tested it with a couple drops of water... this is by no means waterproof, but it is effective at making the wood water resistant (or tolerant). I tested the wood by dropping a couple drops of water on my desk... the water beaded up nicely. Once a towel was applied, the water much preferred the towel to the desk. I did not experience any discoloration or any need to re-apply to balance out anything. I realize I sound like a shill but I was reviewing my review and saw the other review that had made me hesitate before purchase, so I felt like addressing it. Personally I get a lot from these reviews, so I try to help others the way you people help me. So, as stated above, I can recommend this to treat real wood.

Aeromax Power Super Soaking Backpack

Aeromax Power Super Soaking Backpack

I purchased this toy for my son for summer. It works better than I had hoped! The actual product is smaller than I had assumed and it would have helped if there had been some kind of age recommendation. My son is ten and the item looks a little silly on him mostly because it is so small. I would definitely rate the size as being more appropriate to about a 4-7 year old child. However, my son absolutely loves it because it shoots a strong stream of water a very large distance. I would estimate at least 20-30 feet. I would be careful about purchasing this item for a younger child because the stream that shoots out seems to have a lot of force. I would be concerned about a younger child getting hurt by being sprayed in the eye. For the money, this product does deliver and has already given my son several hours of enjoyment. That is definitely worth the price. I do feel that it could be a little cheaper. It seems like it is cheaply made, but it does perform as described and my son hasn't broken it yet. For a ten year old with moderately severe ADHD, that alone is priceless!

Pretty decent

Plano Pillared Single Scoped Case

Plano Pillared Single Scoped Case

I love this. It is a beautiful piece of furniture. The color is darker than the picture, but lovely. It is more of a dark deep cherry or mahogany color. It is not a flat color, it has grains in it if you look closely. From far away though, it is a deep chocolate, almost black. It definitely is NOT the color in the picture.

Putting this together was tricky, and I never have trouble assembling items. I will try to walk you through it. Make sure you keep the instructions that come with it and read them along with what I am writing. My instructions were stapled incorrectly and it took me a little while to figure out that step one was on page 3...so read very carefully.

Step 1 First you can attach the towel rod to either the right or left. I chose not to, because mine is sitting in my bedroom. If you want the rod on the right (as you are facing the product, then attach it to panel B. If you want the rod on the left, then attach it to panel A. The side with the paneling in the wood is the outside. It is easy to attach. Put the rod through the wood, (paneling side out), then put on a washer and then use the nuts.

Now to put the box together.

Step 2 Attach locking bolts into the two outside holes on the inside of panel B at the end that has the curve to it. The inside is the side without the paneling. Screw them in using your hands and then use a Philips screwdriver to screw them in. Then put the wooden dowel in the hole in the middle.

Then take panel D and turn it so the side with the little groove in it lines up next to the same groove in panel B. (D is the bottom panel, and the part that hangs down is the front...it is easiest to line them up so the grooves will be next to each other) The legs of B stick up in the air (the aren't really legs, they are the top section of B and that really confused me for a bit). You attach the two pieces by sliding D onto the two locking bolts and the dowel. (The dowel doesn't fit in tightly, so be careful not to let it fall out). Once you have the two pieces together, take the SMALL cams and then twist them so the part of the locking bolt that sticks out, fits into the notch in the cam. BE CAREFUL TO USE THE RIGHT CAM! I didn't realize until I had to undo the whole thing, that there were different size cams. Turn the cam until you find the point where it feels like it sits in over the bolt. Once the cam is in, turn it gently with your screwdriver until it is tight. It doesn't take many rotations until it is tight. I think, one to one and a half rotations. Don't over tighten. Tightening too much doesn't make it stronger. You aren't screwing something in, you are twisting the cam so it covers the locking bolt. You do have to get it in snugly, but be gentle.

Then put the little brown screw covers into the cams. You don't have to, the screws are only seen from the inside, up to you.

Step 3 The instructions then say to take panel G and slide it in the groove. It won't stay in there very well, don't worry, panel A will hold it in better.

Step 4 Put the locking pins and the dowels into panel A the same way as you did to B. Attach A to panel D the same way you did with B. The section with the little groove will be lined up with the grooves on panel D. Before you put in the cams (Use the small cams!) and snug it all down, adjust it so you have panel G in the groove properly. It is a little tricky to get it in there, as it keeps trying to jump out. I did it myself, but another pair of hands would have made it easier. You certainly don't need anyone else to help if you don't have a person handy. Part G is the back of the unit, and the side with the sticker on it is the inside. Look at the instructions to see how it all slides together.

Put the screw (cam) covers into the cams if you want, again, this is the inside and you won't see those screws.

Step 5 was on the back of page two...so again, read carefully. Attach the knob to the outside of Panel E. The outside is the side with the paneling.

Step 6 insert 4 locking bolts into part C. Do NOT put the dowels in part C. If you do, when you try to put part C down, they will fall out and you will have to crawl under the couch to find them. Instead, put the dowels in the top of parts A and B. Then, put panel C down over the dowels and lining up the 4 locking bolts into the holes. The notches are there so the C fits around the little legs. (I thought this was all going to be the bottom of the thing, but actually it is the top of the unit). The magnet on part C is the front.

After you have part C in place, and BEFORE you put in the cams, attach the door, part E. It is easy, you just have to line up the little pegs in the holes, but if you snug down part C, you can't get the door in. Make sure the magnet on part C lines up with the metal piece on part E.

Step 7 insert the SMALL cams and snug them down. This time it is a little harder because you have to reach into the box and do it by feel. But, you have down a bunch of these cams by now and you are a pro! It won't be that hard. Just make sure you twist them right so they can be screwed down. Up to you about those pesky brown cam screw covers.

Step 8. (Almost done and it is easier from here.) Put the locking bolts into panel F. This is the top of the unit. The instructions don't say, but there are three sides that have a little lip on part F and one side that is flat. I chose to put the flat side in the back, but it would work either way. If you don't put the flat side in the back, the unit will stick out a little from the wall. Ok...got those locking bolts in place...now put F into the little legs that stick up. NOW, it is time to use the BIG cams. If you got this far, you should have 2 small cams and 5 large cams left. (The 2 small cams are extras and there is an extra large cam too.) Put the large cams into the legs, turn, and tighten. NOW, you want to be sure to use those little brown cam, screw cover things. These holes ARE visible.

Step 9. This unit is supplied with 4 dark brown wood plugs that you can put in the holes for the towel rod that you didn't use. On my unit, those plugs fell out every time I tried to put them in. I decided not to use them at all. If you have the same trouble, try using a little glue and I am sure they will stay in. Just remember if you do that, you might have a hard time getting them out, or you might damage the wood, if you later decide to put the towel rod in those holes.

Voila!! You are finished. I hope that helps the next person put this thing together a little easier than it was for me. I didn't realize about the different sizes of the cams until I had to take it apart to fix it. And good luck getting the wrong cams out of those holes after you put them in! It took a nail file, gravity, and a lot of frustration to get them out.

As everyone has already stated, make sure you get a small litter box. Check the dimensions of this unit and find one that fits. I had what I thought was a small litter box and it is too big. Silly me. Should have measured. I wish I had looked for one on Amazon to order at the same time so I wouldn't be sitting here with a lovely finished piece but no way to use it yet. Ah well, I can wait until tomorrow. The dimensions of the inside are 18 3/4" x 16 1/4".

Even though the thing was a little tricky to put together, I gave it 5 stars because it looks lovely. The opening to the unit is 7" x 8". Little kitties will fit in easily. I am not sure about the mega cats. (If you know what I mean.) If you have a super duper sized feline, I would suggest getting a cardboard box first and cut the opening that size and see if your kitty will fit.

Pioneer Pet Sticky Furniture Deterrent

Pioneer Pet Sticky Furniture Deterrent

I got all 3 kinds of sticky paws, the big sheets, the regular strips and the roll. The roll form is handy for more targeted areas. The cats (4) don't like the sticky paws. But they do move to other areas that aren't covered. So it's necessary to have something for them to scratch. I got a very tall sisal covered post. But they don't like sisal, so I wrapped it with a small rug and they all like it now. The sticky paws covered furniture is not getting scratched now. The regular strips work well on the vertical arms of a couch. It's a little tricky getting the sticky part off the backing and onto the furniture, but it sticks and protects the couch. I would love to see them when they try to scratch. I put it on stairs also - the vertical riser part. But you need to cover all of them, because they'll just move to another step to scratch.

ACME 3 Panel Wooden Screen Natural

ACME 3 Panel Wooden Screen Natural

I recently bought a corner shelf, and was so impressed that I bought a second one. Suprisingly, it took longer to put the second shelf together. I was was distracted by the game and put the bottom section together backwards. I easily made the correction. There is really no excuse since each piece is labeled and the instructions are quite clear. I guess football and assembly are a bad combination. The corner shelf can normally be assembled in a lesiure hour by one person. I read an earlier review where two people put the shelf together in 20 minutes. I guess that is possible if you are in a competition or the wife is standing over you. It takes me 20 minutes to unpack the box and get in the proper frame of mind to assemble the shelves. Personally, I put the shelves together in stages and it was quite easy to assemble. I like the finished shelves and would recommend this product.

Dark Fabric Shade Table Lamps

Dark Fabric Shade Table Lamps

I first got the headboard in parchment, the creamy white color, it was 14% off. However, it did not line up with my bed frame horizontally, and it left a big gap between the mattress and the bottom of the headboard (giving the fact that our mattress set is 18" instead of 21"). Also, part of the bottom part was concave in. I was not satisfied with the product, so I returned it and ordered another one in khaki (it is not the color of khaki pants, if you are wondering, the picture is pretty true to color), giving that I have ordered from Skyline before, and loved their items. The khaki product is not on any kind of sale, and I love it. It line up perfected with my mattress and only a tiny, unnoticeable space between my mattress. In addition, the bottom part was a smooth, perfectly straight line. The khaki color is more luxurious looking than the parchment, and it goes with everything. I recommend being careful about the sales and discounts!

Piece Hand Guard Quad Covers

Piece Hand Guard Quad Covers

I bought one of these rolling umbrella stands last summer to use on our wooden south-facing deck. First you have to buy the sand and bricks to create the weight. You put them in the stand according to the diagram, then finish the assembly. It took a while to put together. There were so many screws that I got blisters from the screwdriver. When it was finished it was VERY heavy. It holds a tilting market umbrella perfectly steady. I keep the wheels unlocked all the time so I can roll it around without the bother of bending down to unlock them. It never moves in the unlocked position unless I want it to. It takes an effort to push it, and you have to get the hang of how to steer it. It can only go in 2 directions, so if you want to turn it you have to go back and forth until you are going in the right direction. But it is worth the hassle because you can push it wherever you want when you have mastered the steering. This year I am buying one for the pool deck. By the way, this thing is so heavy when assembled that we left it on the deck all winter. There is no way we could have carried it down steps to put in the garage. Giving 5 stars because the finished product is so useful and strong!

Pet Hair Removal Stone

Pet Hair Removal Stone

For anyone that's tried to clean teak, you will thank me for this. I spent 8 hours trying to scrub, then oil my teak bench. I used expensive teak cleaner. I still had 9 more pieces to go and the bench didn't look very good. I then figured out how its done.

Get some TSP (Tri-sodium phosphate) from Lowes (or any hardware store). Mix it with water in a 1 gal pump sprayer as per the directions on the TSP container and spray liberally on the furniture. Wait about 5 minutes, then use a power washer on the lowest velocity nozzle. The dirt and greying will come off instantly and you will have beautiful blonde teak.

After the wood dries, some streaking will be evident..Don't worry!!!! Let the furniture dry for a few days, then use the pump sprayer the apply the Senco Teak sealant. The honey tone covers any streaking that had been there and the furniture will look brand new. I'm not kidding. My family thought we had gotten new furniture!

Shaklee Basic H2 Cleaning Concentrate

Shaklee Basic H2 Cleaning Concentrate

This is a great make-up table. It was a little more than I wanted to spend but I do not regret the extra money I spent -- you really do get what you pay for with this table. It is a substantial piece of wooden furniture - not partical board with a wood grain veneer. I think it looks elegant rather than utilitarian like most of the ones I saw. Unlike most of the other make up tables it has lot of shallow drawers for storing make up. The drawers are all lined with a product that is similar to a pool table. The top side draw has an insert like a jewelry box to store rings. I keep my eyeliners there so they do not roll around when I open the drawer. The entire side opens and has hooks for necklaces. I hung my wide tooth comb, hair brush and other hair accessories there. It is perfect for me in both form and function.

Good brush

Adjustable Overbed Bedside laptop Folding

Adjustable Overbed Bedside laptop Folding

First of all I have to say that getting a business card with a hand-written thank you on the back was a great touch. Thanks Tony. It is nice to know that a business truly appreciates your purchase. The shipping was super fast and the brush is well made.

The brush is great and I am glad that I went ahead and ordered two based on the previous reviews so that I can use a different brush for different jobs. Like others I bought this for household cleaning and not for automotive carpet so if you are planning to use this for carpet then this review will not help. Sorry. For those looking to save some time and sweat when scrubbing a tub or tile then you absolutely must buy this. Even without chemicals this brush got the tub sparkling clean when mounted on my cordless drill. Just wet the tub, scrub away and rinse.

I really think they need to market this thing a little differently by touting the fact that when using a rechargeable battery powered drill and this brush you are using the greenest method possible to clean your home.

Can't wait to try this on the tile floors, the grill, the wheels on my car and a lot of other tough cleaning jobs.

Thanks for making a great product.

great quality for the price

Home Styles 5050 22 Craftsman Distressed

From the moment this sofa table arrived, we knew it was perfect. It came quickly without an issue in delivery. It was heavy. It took my husband and both to carry it in the house. My husband had it together in under half an hour all on his own without a problem. It has a beautiful distressed oak finish and the black metal really sets it off. The picture doesn't do it justice. Drawers open smoothly and are spacious too (We easily put 10-15 of our favorite dvds inside one drawer and some other tv/dvd player supplies in the other). I put a set of rich colored baskets beneath it to add texture and a little storage room. The price was exactly right and the quality was excellent for what we paid for it. This sofa table adds richness to the look of our living room. Many visitors have commented on how beautiful it looks and want to know where we got it. This sofa table is exactly what we wanted without stretching our budget to the limit. We love it!

A must for pet owners

Dyson Tangle Free Tool Turbine

Dyson Tangle Free Tool Turbine

The tangle-free turbine tool came as an accessory with the DC41 Animal that I purchased from QVC when it was a Today's Special Value. It came with 6 or 7 other attachments, but seeing this demonstrated on TV was just the push I needed to not only upgrade my vacuum cleaner, but potentially own a more effective tool to remove pet hair from just about everywhere.

I'm a clean freak with a Golden Retriever who sheds like she's adding a new coat every day. Dyson's regular turbine brushes have done a fine job removing her hair from my upholstered furniture, but every month or so, I'd have to forcibly remove the hair that had wound around the brush roll. It is far from my favorite chore, but if you don't do it, the speed and effectiveness of the brush diminishes over time.

The tangle-free turbine tool looked like the answer to my prayers and I'm happy to say that it's everything they say it is. I cleaned dog hair off my stairs, upholstered furniture, out of my car, and amazingly enough, off my bed comforter. I never realized how much fur had become entwined in the sides of the comforter that the dog rubbed up against since the color was about the same as my dog's fur. It did an amazing job picking up the pet hair and I was astonished that there weren't huge strings of fur clogging the brushes.

They are designed to funnel the hair into the vacuum after twining it. Now that I have used the tool for several months, I am seeing a buildup of small undercoat fur on the brushes -- not much, just small pieces that are almost impossible to pull off to keep the brush clean. These hairs attract and hold longer hairs, so I am finding twined strands of dog fur in the bristles that I can pull off easily and let the vacuum suck up. All in all, not completely tangle free, but as close as I have ever seen.

When I'm done using the turbine brush, I take it off the hose and then use the suction from the hose to remove any loose fur off the brush. That also helps to remove any dander which does tend to cake up in areas of the clear plastic that are hard to reach. I can easily dislodge the dander with my finger with the brush detached from the hose and then the suction will just pull it in once it's loose.

This is my favorite Dyson tool ever, and even though expensive, it is worth the cost considering how effective it is. If you have a pet that sheds, this is a lifesaver and a sanity-saver. It does a terrific job on human hair on the floor in the bathroom. I use it with my DC44 Slim for quick pickups after blow drying my hair and it does an excellent job without clogging the tool. If you are considering this tool, give it a try. It's innovative and functional and well made.

Excellent Cabinet!

Home Styles 5537 13 Lafayette Cabinet

Home Styles 5537 13 Lafayette Cabinet

We didn't want to spend twice as much or more on a pier cabinet for media components, found this, and decided to try it. Although it is impossible to judge the color and quality from some small pictures, it turned out great. I would consider the finish and quality to be as good as most cabinets at twice the cost in department stores. The color of my unit may be a bit darker than the picture appears, more of the dark tones, though that could vary day to day in production. Be careful when inserting components onto the shelves as the front corners especially are easy to scratch as you slide them in, but a little dark furniture polish should hide any marks. There is one hole for wires in the bottom of lower cabinet and one in the top shelves. It would be nice if there were some optional punch outs for at least one higher hole since all my wires must run down behind the adjustable shelves and out the bottom. Though you could certainly make another hole in the thin panel backing.

ASSEMBLY
Assembly took some time and was a little difficult because the holes may have been a little off between the two sides and the pieces in between. But it all worked with a bit more force than I would have preferred to use. I had one issue with the lower front trim not having all the holes in correct position, but it did not appear to have any structural impact and the other fasteners hold the piece properly, so I didn't worry about it. Once together, all the important seams fit together nicely. There is a small gap around the bottom of the upper trim, but it wraps down around the sides so it is not really noticeable. The foot pieces in the four lower corners attach separately and aren't perfectly aligned, but good enough you probably wouldn't notice.

RECOMMENDATION
I would recommend this if you are looking for something that doesn't look cheap but not wanting to spend as much as most of these cabinets cost. I would not recommend this if you do not like to assemble items or sometimes have difficulty with assembly. When looked at closely it is clearly not a $600+ unit, but it looks good enough for me.

A good buy

Home Star Country Cottage Collection

Home Star Country Cottage Collection

A small child is kidnapped apparently under her mother's nose. A burglar is going round piling up furniture against his victims' front doors so that he can make a quick getaway through the back door if the owners of the property suddenly arrive home. Lydia has just moved into a newly converted flat in what was a mental hospital in the historic city of Eborby and is troubled by nightmares which feature a malevolent clock. DI Joe Plantagenet and his boss, DCI Emily Thwaite are trying to keep a lid on the crime rate.

If you add into the mix a university researcher who has found something evil and a man with an obsession with a serial killer the result is spine chilling and a frightening read. This is a fast paced and well written story with more than a hint of supernatural happenings which make the hairs on the back of the reader's neck stand on end. I got close to the end of the book quite late last night but made myself leave the last three chapters until daylight!

I like the police characters in this series - Joe, with his troubled past and his current loneliness, Emily trying to juggle a hectic job and family life; I also like George Merryweather - the clergyman with the job of dealing with supernatural happenings. The background of the ancient city with its narrow streets and chequered past gives an added frisson to this series which mixes ghostly happenings with crime which is all too real and substantial.
