Perfect Workbench

Seville Classics UltraHD Lighted Workbench

Seville Classics UltraHD Lighted Workbench

Purchased this workbench recently and I wasn't expecting too much for only $200 but the reviews looked good so I gave in and got it, and I couldn't be happier. The bench arrived quickly, and was fairly simple to put together. The bench top is very nice and high quality, and everything is good quality metal (including the pegboard, I was expecting the typical cardboard material). I really have no complains with this bench at all. If I had to pick one thing I dislike about it, it is that the drawers are fairly difficult to push all the way back to have them lock in, but it isn't like they will slide open if they are all the way back. This bench is also very easy to put together, it takes some time because its fairly big, but its easy and the instructions are very clear.

  1. I have read all of the five start reviews, as well as all of the others, and I'm sorry for any problems that some of those folks experienced, and I hope that they got them corrected with a minimum of difficulty. The t ruth is that I wanted to give my unit a "six," but the stars stop at five, dang it!

First of all, this product arrived, via FedEx, approximately eight days quicker than they estimated that it would, and I took my two wheeler and wheeled the box back to the 10'X12' storage building, in my back yard. I am much luckier, than all the rest of the folks who reviewed this item, in that I had two electricians who were working at my house, at the time, and they actually volunteered to assemble it for me, bless their hearts! When they were finished, they wanted to know where I got it, and I told them, and even showed them on my computer. They are both definitely ordering one, because I did the whole ordering process on my computer, and set the shipping for each of their addresses. For a lazy old man, like myself, this arrangement worked out great!

I shall now discuss the "pros" and "cons" of this product, except I have a very pleasant problem. There are no "cons." Now, I have read where there was a problem, with a drawer track, and some light shipping damage but, again, I was very lucky, in that I had no problems whatsoever with any defects, either, since my shipping box had almost no bad spots, or dings on it.

Now, to the "pros." This thing is built like a tank! I guess I didn't read the description very thoroughly, before I ordered it, because I didn't expect the "peg board" to be made of metal! I just figured it would be some of that Masonite-based pegboard stuff, like you buy at Home Depot, etc. Look, I know I sound like an overly excited kid at Christmas, but this was very exciting to me, simply because when I first laid eyes on the finished product, I could not believe my eyes! There is a shelf, on top of the unit, and it is a sturdy metal construct, with the light attached underneath it, which more than fills the bill for lighting the work surface. The top is approximately 2" thick, and is solid maple, or some similar hardwood, maybe oak.

The drawers are built to perform, you might say, because they have ball-bearing rails, which will enable you to easily open each one of them, if you happened to have put some really heavy items in them. The legs are, and I'm guessing here since I have no way of measuring, approximately 3"X3" and more than adequate for the job. If anything, this unit is overbuilt. It is perfect for what I want, though, since it will be in the aforementioned 10'X12' building and fits perfectly right up against the wall. I had the electricians install an outlet around 4 feet up the wall, where it will be sitting, so that the connections won't be visible. It has adjustable feet, so that you can level it, if need be, very easily. Folks, I wish I could think of something else good to say, about this little jewel, and I know there are more words out there somewhere, but I just can't think of them, at the moment. I'll just close with these three words, and I assure you that I mean them from the bottom of my old, curmudgeonly heart: BUY THIS WORKBENCH!!!

  2. First of all, the workbench arrived very promptly despite the very low participation that was asked for the shipping.
It is recommended to have two people to move and assemble the workbench. This is not a luxury : the item is quite heavy.
The quality is impressive, and I am not easily impressed. The plain wood top is thick, sturdy and, again, heavy.
The miscellaneous components are well packed and each item is clearly labelled with a number. There is even a number printed on the plastic bags of hardware. Incidentally, should you lose one screw, do not panic. As you go, you only have the exact number needed but they have added a separate bag containing a spare of each size.
The assembly proceeds smoothly, with all the holes aligned where they belong. Don't do as I do, as I assembled it alone in about 3 hours. Get a friend to help.
I have assembled dozens of comparable projects, but this is the best one I have ever bumped into.
The quality is great and the design is well thought. Part of the accessories includes a light and even a power strip.
    You will like it.

  4. That was nearly the first time for me when I enjoyed the process of furniture assembly, because many designer decisions just feel right. The end result is also inspiring.

  5. After looking at workbenchs in stores and on the internet for the last few weeks we chose this one and it was the perfect choice. Many of the workbenchs we looked at had pressed board tops that after a given amount of time usually start to break down and then you are stuck spending the extra money to replace the top, this work bench has a very thick/strong/durable/beautiful natural wood top that will take a lifetime (or two) to wear out. We are very please with the heavy-duty construction of the workbench and doubt that we could have found this same quality with any other brand. The directions and set-up were easy. The steel peg board is a great feature, along with the light which illuminates perfectly. Another feature that we love is that it has a powerstrip connected to it which makes projects faster and easier as you are not struggling to find an outlet or an extention cord for your equipment. The drawers are very well constructed with a smooth roller open that pulls out all of the way so you can see into the entire drawer. We are 100% pleased with this workbench and would very highly recommend it to anyone who is on the fence or debating what kind of workbench to get...you will not be disappointed!

  6. First off and as others have stated the box is about 115 pounds which is obviously quite heavy so take care in moving it. Overall the quality of this product is nothing short of outstanding in my opinion. Parts are substantial and well packaged, fit together properly and the assembly process is very straightforward. I was extremely impressed that Seville even included a bag of extra fasteners in case one is dropped or damaged. Assembled the bench is quite sturdy, the height of the table is perfect for working and I love that it can easily be leveled. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a workbench.

One assembly tip: When installing the drawers into the ball bearing sliders do not force them together. There are black release tabs on the drawers that need to be depressed to get them installed in the sliders. I did not notice these initially but eventually figured it out.

  7. An early Christmas gift from my loving wife, meant for my newly finished "Man Cave". Let me start by saying that the box was much smaller than expected, which is a testament to how well they packed this thing. Every part was either wrapped in plastic, double boxed and/or cushioned with styrofoam. The box is over 100 pounds, so I decided to unpack everything in my foyer and carry the individual pieces down to the basement. The work surface is a heavy, beautiful hunk of butcher block. Everything else is either powder-coated, painted gray or made from stainless steel. The instructions were very clear and it didn't take more than 90 minutes to build. My kids assisted in the process, but this could easily be assembled by one person. It also came with everything: a nice work light, drawer/tray liners, a mountable power-strip, pegboard hardware and even the necessary tools to put it together. Most of these things would usually be "add-ons" but they came standard.

The finished product is not only gorgeous but should provide me with many years of wonderful service and hobby fun! Consider me very pleased and impressed.
