Excellant solid wood kitchen cart

Winsome Wood Single Storage Natural

Winsome Wood Single Storage Natural

Like some of the reviews I too was reluctant to purchase this item. I decided to go ahead and now am very pleased with the result. The order and delivery was unbelievable - only two days! The packaging protected the edges with Styrofoam but the front and back were only protected by wrapping the pieces inside the box with paper and the cardboard box itself. It is packaged tightly so nothing can fly around. Although mine was not damaged I can see it could happen if not handled correctly in shipping. Like most reviewers, the plans, although not being complicated take some thought as to how the pieces might fit together especially when one brace had a slightly rounded edge not shown in the instructions. Lay out the pieces and make sure you have all the screws and keep them together - there are no extras. With a little patience and common sense it goes together easily. Do not force any piece - they all fit together with the dowels nicely. With a few cups of coffee and a little music it took me about 1 1/2 hours. If you have a powered hex tool other than the Allen wrench supplied, it might be even faster. One suggestion however, is to re-drill the pilot holes for the smaller phillips head screws using a slightly smaller diameter drill bit than the screw. Since the screws go into almost solid wood a better pilot hole will make it easier to screw each screw into place and create less of a chance to strip the head - which I learned the hard way on my first screw. The solid wood looks nice and is very sturdy once assembled. The sliding drawer is not a bad fit but don't expect kitchen cabinet quality. I do question the dowel stop in the drawer but that's just a personal choice and I decided to leave it out. The doors magically fit flush although one door swings with a slight more resistance which might be corrected with a drop of oil or continued use. Nothing to worry about. It would have been nice to have an adjustable shelf but the spacing is good and the shelves (middle and bottom), although being latticed, appear strong enough to hold small appliances or cookbooks and are easy to clean. Other than that, the furniture is better than expected and a real value. I wish they had a few more choices on color finishes but you can't beat the quality for the money. I would recommend it to anyone who needs additional storage or in my case, a microwave stand for a reasonable price.

  1. I bought this after roscoe69 said this was not the cheap stuff that Target and Walmart are selling. I cancelled my order with Walmart and bought this. This is high quality wood. Pretty easy to put together. It came with good instructions. This thing is solid and well worth the money. I was pretty shocked at how nice it looks.

  2. The wooden cart is wonderful, but the packing was not very good. One dowel was broken off and backboard was cracked. I drilled out broken dowel and glued another 3/8 dowel in its place. I used the cracked backboard. The cracked side is towards my wall so it is hidden.

The drawer is very solid and good for silverware. The cupboard is good for appliances (stand mixer, toaster, coffee maker, coffee pot). It wheels around easily. The towel rack is very handy. Cart is assembled with supplied screws and key.

  3. The Winsome Woods kitchen cart is one of the best built in it's price range! I looked everywhere for an affordable well-built kitchen cart, was about to give up, until I found this Winsome Woods cart on Amazon.com. Kitchen carts in this price range are very flimsy, and made from particle (fiber) board that's laminated or real wood that's paper thin and has numerous defects! Not the Winsome Woods brand kitchen cart. The wood used in this cart is excellant. The cart is solid and assembles with ease and precision. I was impressed with the high quality, extra large screws used to assemble this cart. Once it's together, it's rock solid, no wobble what so ever. It can definately hold some weight, like a large microwave oven. The cart is all real wood product, the frame and top are solid thick wood, as well as the doors, the handles an the towel bar. The sides, back and drawer bottom are real wood veneer, similar to a thin sheet of plywood. Which is plenty durable and serves it's purpose. Many other brands on the market use pressed carboard that is laminated for their sides and back. The shelves are probably the most impressive, they're solid slats of real wood joined together in a frame like construction. The shelves are definately solid and can hold some weight. Again, others out there are flimsy thin particle (fiber) board that warps and crumbles over time. The finish is a natural oil rubbed, with clear coat. Quality like this in ready-to-assemble furniture is very hard to find in this price range! I'm extremely satisfied and very impressed with the Winsome Woods kitchen cart. I would definately recommend them, and buy from them again.

  5. This is one of the strongest unassembled wood products I've ever purchased. Not particle board and no quarter lock assembly to wiggle loose over time. Although I ordered natural and expected an unfinished product, this product came finished in a very tough clear coat finish. It is strong enough to handle the largest of kitchen appliances. I am only slightly disappointed in the drawer but without glides what can I expect.

  6. This is NOT the cheap particle-board stuff you think it is. This is a sturdy well-built cart. This beats everything I looked at locally (WalMart, Target, etc) and the price is comparable. Do not be misled by the reasonable price.

  7. I purchased this kitchen cart to hold the microwave and fit into a small corner in my kitchen. It fit the bill perfectly! It is a very solid piece, easy to put together and looks great. There's plenty of room in the cabinet for tableclothes, placemats, and all of my recipes!
I do have a small confession to make...I got this cart completely FREE with my bonus points from my Amazon Visa card..but even if I had actually paid for it, I would highly recommend it.

  8. The negative reviews I read had me worried, but since positive reviews out-numbered them I decided to take a chance. So glad I did! It is everything I wanted in a kitchen cart, and more. Great product, great value.
