In our old home I had a Dyson DC21 canister vac that I loved - it was very powerful and easy to each in all the nooks and crannies, it was a small house with hardwood floors and awkward spaces to vacuum. However when we moved to out new condo, which has about 650 square feet of medium pile carpet in the huge bedroom and 3 levels (2 flights of stairs) and I found the canister much less convenient for this arrangement. SO I decided to sell the DC21 and buy a cheaper upright vac. I got the Hoover T series bagged ("HEPA" bag - I put that in quotes because it's not a true HEPA system) Windtunnel but I was very unhappy with it - poor suction which I was not able to fix, the door of the bag compartment wouldn't close tightly which may have contributed to poor suction, and the plastic parts were very cheaply made. I very much missed my Dyson and was unhappy that I'd sold it for the inferior Hoover. I returned the Hoover and went shopping for a Dyson upright, resigned to spending more money than I'd been able to sell my used Dyson for.

I tried out the Ball models and I liked the agility and flat front that would fit under cabinets, but the DC24 in my price range had a very small dirt bin, and less suction than the DC33 and a more fiddly wand assembly. The DC25 is great but a lot more expensive. I decided to go with the DC33 and I like it - light enough to carry up stairs, but very powerful cleaning. I plan to buy a mini turbine head to clean under furniture with the wand attachment. The dirt bin is easy to empty into a bag without puffing dirt all over, important for allergy suffers. And the air exhaust is clean smelling and doesn't trigger my allergies as I vacuum. And like all Dysons, it has major cleaning power!
