Great compromise between quality, performance, and price.

Eureka LightSpeed Upright Bagless 4700D

Eureka LightSpeed Upright Bagless 4700D

I've been living in my apartment for 2 nearly months before I realized I had "overlooked" the fact that I don't have a vacuum cleaner. So I looked around online at reviews and etc. I ended up with this vacuum.

First of all, when I moved in, the apartment did a fantastic job cleaning up, the carpet had been shampooed and cleaned. I also do not wear shoes inside. So to the naked eye...my carpet looked pretty clean...no dirt, visible blemishes...etc.

I bought this vacuum from Fry's, they were running an online special for $47.99. Assembly was pretty straight forward. My first impression was at how light this thing was. It didn't feel cheap and flimsy...but still light.

Anyway, I vacuumed my entire apartment including the hard floor areas. As mentioned above to the naked eye...my floors looked reasonably clean, so you can imagine my surprise when I turned it off and took the filter out...it was full. Kind of gross really but it shows how well this thing works on carpet with nothing visible on it.

For those of you who say this vacuum has weak suction, you obviously have a defective product or simply didn't assembly it properly. Or the simplier reason is probably that you're used to a more powerful expensive vacuum.

For the performance you get and the price you pay...this thing is a steal.

I haven't owned it that long but I'll edit my review should anything come up!

  2. This is a great little vacuum for the price! It is very powerful and the suction is incredible. I have a dog and two cats and this lightweight machine does an excellent job of getting these hairs off the carpet. It also only has only one filter to clean and this can be done by shaking it out every time you empty the waste cup. The manufacturer recommends replacing it every six months but it really only needs to be shaken out and occasionally "hosed" down in the sink.

  3. I love this machine. Just turn it on and go. It automatically adjust to each floor including wood and ceramic. I have noticed an improvement in my hallway carpet. Either this is a good machine or my Kurby is a piece of crap. (just had it reconditioned)

The only thing I don't like is the cord length. But my house is 100 feet long so I am probably the exception.

  4. I really love this little vacuum cleaner. I'm an artist and my studio is often covered with paper scraps and wood shavings. This vacuum picked up all the art debris (and a ton of dust I didn't even know was there) very easily. In addition to having excellent suction, it was simple to assemble and is quite lightweight for its size. As other folks have mentioned, this Eureka does have a front facing exhaust vent, but I haven't had any trouble with flying dust bunnies in either the carpeted or the tiled parts of my apartment. It's a great machine and cheap too!

  5. I purchased the Dyson 07 for several hundred dollars....and returned it, it was so bad. A friend recommened the Eureka Optima but i came across this model and picked it up for the price. I was not disappointed.
It is and does all it claims... and it picks up the dog hair and the mess.
Its lightweight, It has two level settings for going normal or low so you and also glide over floor to carpet hassle free. The tools attach with ease and a quick swap. Its compact enough to get around corners and small areas.
The cansiter does dispense from the top to it can get a little dusty when dumping and the filter gets dirty easily.
Its only drawback is that if you want to get around the house with it you will need an extension cord (as with most of today's vaccuums).

  6. The previous 1st review of this vacuum is absolutely wrong and is probably referring to a different model. 1st of all, this model DOES NOT have a Hepa filter. So there is no way the door holding the filter on could be coming loose, since it doesn't exist. 2nd of all, this vacuum is surprisingly very light. And is probably the lightest vaccuum of it's size. Lastly, as of this date, this model is brand new, and has only been on the market for a few weeks, so there is no way anyone could have had it for a few months. Also, to get service on a Eureka vacuum under the warranty, you only need to take it to a authorized repair shop. There are many of these in most major cities.

I have only had this vacuum a few weeks, but it works well. It seems to be constructed well, and will hopefully last longer then my previous Eureka, which only went for 1 year, but this one seems to be constructed better. I especially like the auto height adjustment feature, and the fact that this vaccum is light and easy to maneuver. In my opinion it is a good buy for the price.
