BISSELL Clean Portable Cleaner 3624

BISSELL Clean Portable Cleaner 3624

I purchased the Bissell Spot Clean Pro to clean my microfiber upholstery, and also to clean small spots on the carpet. I have two cats, so I need something to clean up their occasional messes. I found the unit easy to use, and easy to clean after use. It took me a little time to figure out the best way to clean without drenching the area, but once I did I found it did the job well. I have cleaned the upholstery before with a spray bottle and Shop-Vac, but the Spot Clean Pro is much easier to use, and it removed the moisture almost as well as the Shop-Vac.

I read some reviews that said the Spot Clean Pro was noisy. I didn't think it was any louder than my vacuum cleaner so I decided to test it. I have a Radio Shack sound lever meter so I did an unscientific measurement of the decibel levels. All measurements were done at 3' from each machine, one reading taken with the machine sitting on carpet, and the other reading on tile flooring. The Spot Clean Pro measured 82 db on carpet and 95 db on tile. My Eureka MightyMite canister vacuum was 81 on carpet and 90 on tile. My 8-gallon wet/dry Shop-Vac was 90 on carpet and 93 on tile. The Spot Clean Pro is a little louder that my vacuum cleaner, but way more convenient than the noisy, bulky Shop-Vac.

Overall I am very pleased with this machine. I found the 22' power cord and 5' flex hose long enough for me to reach everything easily. The only issue I had was that there is only one fill line marked on the clean water tank, and since I only used half the cleaning solution I had to find a place to store the leftover fluid, or throw it away. It would be nice if Bissell had a half-full mark on the clean water tank so you could mix enough solution for small jobs. Since the clean water tank holds 96 ounces, I measured 48 ounces of water and marked a line on my tank to make it easier next time. Other than this one small issue, I like the machine a lot and would highly recommend it to others.

  1. I live with a 13-year-old incontinent shih-tzu and my 91-year-old father, so when I was offered a Bissell Spot Clean Pro Deep Cleaner I jumped at the chance. With white carpet and my two aforementioned roommates, a carpet cleaner was definitely in order. This little Bissell is a godsend. It is easy to maneuver, fairly light yet sturdy, and it cleans like nobody's business.

I had another spot cleaner that worked okay, but nothing like this Bissell. It was a cordless model that only lasted about 5 minutes before it needed recharging. This model runs on electricity so that is not an issue. I am able to clean all the nasty spots in our house in one fell swoop. No more constant recharging and no more refilling tiny receptacles. This is a substantial feeling unit that feels more expensive than it is. I am extremely happy with this spot cleaner. My old cleaner is going to the Goodwill and this new one is my go-to spot remover. 5 stars!

  2. I was very pleased with this product. Light weight but cleans very well. Would have liked a longer hose, but overall I am very pleased with this item. Cleaned my couches and loved how much suction was available with the hose. My couches look great!

  4. It cleans great for someone with a puppy (me)! plus it's easy to carry around, the perfect SPOT cleaner.

I'm a tough customer to satisfy. so let me add the bad.

It's difficult to push down with one hand while not pulling the trigger to add more water.
The handle is too short, you can't push down hard enough with one hand. With two hands you pick up 3 times the water.
The waste tank is a pain to clean.

In my opinion if you want to push down with two hands to remove all the water it's a definite buy.

  5. This little machine performs excellent! Very simple and easy to use. Take right out of the box, plug it in and go! I've never owned a rug shampooer before and I purchased this for small clean ups. Spills and dog accidents mostly.

I've used this a number of times now and it works just as promised. The spray from the brush sprays right where you place it, doesn't overspray at all. The suction is outstanding. Comes with a small and large non aggitating brush cleaning head. Very easy to fill, empty and clean out. It has never leaked any water on the floor. I didn't find it too heavy to carry around either, and I'm no spring chicken. I've used different cleaning solutions depending on what type of mess I'm cleaning up and have been successful with all of them.

Overall for anyone looking to clean small areas I would highly recommend this easy to use yet powerful little machine!

  6. I have a large upright carpet cleaner that does a good job of cleaning carpets, but it's a chore to get it out, get it set up, and to get it cleaned afterwards. And while it has attachments for upholstery and spot cleaning, it doesn't do quite as good of a job as on carpets. So, I thought that a portable spot cleaner might be what I'm looking for these types of chores, and decided to give this cleaner, the BISSELL Spot Clean Pro Portable Deep Cleaner a try. Below are my pro's and con's for this deep cleaner.

    Pros:
    - Ergonomics! I was very impressed at how well it all fit together. From the hose "reel" to the unit's space-saving size to the twist-out way you secure the power cord, it all fits together well. I even like how it looks ... like a small robot. :-)
    - Water/cleaning fluid capacity. You can handle a large job without having to run back and refill. The flip side of this is that the unit can get heavy when fully loaded, but you don't have to fill the water tank up all the way if you don't want to.
    - It did a good job on most stains, and did a better job on upholstery than my larger unit.
    - It comes with two cleaning heads ... a wider one and a narrower one, so you can choose the one that better fits your job.
    - The power cord is very long, helpful for jobs like moving around the room to clean several chairs without having to unplug/replug.
    - The suction (to pull water into the waste tank) is good.

    Cons:
    - It's noisy when you're sitting next to it. It probably has to be in order to generate sufficient suction, but consider ear-plugs if you're sensitive to louder noises.
    - My larger carpet cleaner does a better job on toughest stains on the carpet. Some of this is a function of how much elbow grease you're willing to expend with the Bissell, but the powered brushes on the big units will do a better job with less effort. And if you have something really icky/sticky on your furniture or carpeted stairs, consider pre-treating for better results.

Other impressions that aren't a pro or a con:
    - Although the hose length is adequate, another three feet or so would have been nice.
    - It was easier to set up and easier to clean than my large carpet cleaner, but not by as much as I was hoping. It is considerably easier to move around and to store, though.
    - You do get your money's worth here, but if you don't already have a carpet cleaner, I'd recommend you spend just a little more money and get a large upright carpet cleaner, as this unit wasn't designed to clean entire carpets. It could, but it would take you a lot longer.

Overall, this is a great unit. It did a very good job on my chairs and couches, and on several recent stains on my carpet, including some chocolate ice cream dropped by my five year old while I was first using this cleaner. (I don't know how a girl so graceful can also occasionally be so clumsy!) It won't replace your upright cleaner, but that's not its goal. Five stars.

  7. The Bissell Spot Clean Pro sits nicely between their handheld range such as the BISSELL SpotLifter 2X Portable Deep Carpet Cleaner, 1719 and their more professional range like the BISSELL Lift-Off Deluxe Pet Upright Deep Cleaner, Titanium, 73H5.

It's a chunk of change of a machine in terms of weight especially when loaded with fluids and so carting it about may prove a little more difficult to the elderly/infirm so keep that in mind. But with that weight comes power!

Upon unpacking the unit you'll notice it's complete with no assembly required and it's ready for the supplied Bissell formula and hot water. You fill it the usual way by up turning over the water container and unscrewing the cap. There's a water fill level near the top and then you put 2oz of the cleaning fluid to top it off. A quick re-screw of the cap and it plops back into the machine. You get two heads, one 4" and one 6" which attach and detach easily so if you're doing stairs then it's perfect for the top and front of them. Of course the true test of cleaning would be in the way it handles larger areas, not just spots of wine or whatever. We have about a three foot square area into the kitchen where people have to step over a gate and it accumulates the most dirt on the carpet. I decided to clean that area with the Bissell to see how it did.

And boy did it do well: immediately clean and super fast. The suction on this thing is impressive and you can see the dirt being pulled up through the clear head attachment. I would say the area took about five minutes to clean and it looked... well, spotless! The dirty water container was filled black like oil and so even though you don't have to empty it until it's full I decided to drop it into the toilet anyway - it was that nasty. When emptying the unit it's a simple case of lifting it up and rotating the handle 180 degrees, the top then pops off and your pour the gunk down the drain or toilet. There's no chance of accidentally spilling it and it's very well thought out.

This is a perfect device that serves well for smaller areas but ones that are too large for the handheld. You won't be doing an entire carpet without a larger head attachment (which I think is available - not sure) but you can easily clean up say five square feet in no time. You'll still use the handheld for tiny spots, but if you have a party and there's a few accidents you'll appreciate owning the Bissell 3624!
